Bath is a truly excellent destination for a holiday, offering a unique historic charm complimented by picturesque parks, a myriad of boutique shops and restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife that’s perfect for your hen and stag celebrations. The city of Bath gets its name from the famous Roman Baths located its heart. The sulfurous water from the baths was believed, historically, to have magical healing properties, and people made their way from far and wide to visit these famous baths. These days, it is no longer possible to bathe in the turquoise waters, which have succumbed to toxic algal blooms, but the Roman architecture surrounding the pools continues to position this as a leading tourist attraction. For those who would like to experience warm baths, can enjoy a similar experience at the Thermae Bath Spa, which features a thermal bath on a rooftop with views across the city. There is a lot to be said about Bath as a holiday destination, but for now, let’s focus on our Party Houses in Bath.

More About Bath
A Brief History of Bath
Bath is a fascinating place from a historical perspective, boasting impeccably preserved Roman architecture alongside iconic Georgian architecture, making it very interesting and rather magnificent. In the year 60 AD, the city became popular as a spa destination – a reputation which has evolved but has been more or less maintained through the centuries. The city was originally named ‘Aquae Sulis‘ during its early years as a spa town, and later became known as Bath, after the Roman baths that still serve as an attractive tourist destination. While the original Roman Baths are no longer open for bathing due to toxic algal blooms which deemed the water unsafe for human use, the area surrounding the pools is still open to the public for exploration and education. It remains one of the best-preserved, iconic architectural creations from its time, still drawing visitors from all walks of life. In later years, there were a number of Georgian developments, including the famous Circus – a ring of townhouses centred around a beautiful grassy circle, and the Roya Crescent – a similar half-circle of terraced houses. In addition to standing as impressive examples of Georgian architecture, these buildings demonstrate the impeccable city planning of the time. The history of Bath seeps through every stone, calling visitors to explore its unique and fascinating story.
The Unique Story of Putney Bridge
Putney Bridge is a large bridge connecting the neighbourhood of Bathwick with the city centre of Bath, previously only accessible via ferry. The bridge was commissioned by William Putney, a Scottish lawyer and member of parliament, and was named after his wife, Frances Putney. Its construction was completed in 1729. Putney wished to create a seamless connection between his neighbourhood of Bathwich and the city centre of Bath. Rumour has it that he wanted to build a connection that gave one the illusion of never having left the city centre, which was achieved by lining the entire bridge with shops on either side. There are only 3 other bridges designed in such a way – 2 are in Italy and 1 in Germany. The bridge was designed by architect Robert Adam and has seen many renovations and improvements over the years. It remains a popular attraction, both to cross over and to view from other points along the River Avon. When visiting Bath, Putney Bridge is a must-see.
The Royal Victoria Park Bath
The Royal Victoria Park is a large park, more or less in the centre of Bath, close to both The Circus and the Royal Crescent. The park was opened by Princess Victoria at the age of 11, 7 years before her ascension. The Royal Victoria Park Bath was managed privately by the Victoria Park Foundation before being taken over by the Bath Corporation in 1921. The stunning grounds span a total of 57 acres and feature a number of attractions including a children’s play area and botanical gardens. On warmer days, the park is a great spot for a picnic with your fellow guests, as well as a wonderful place to stroll around and explore. Visiting its pristine grounds is a great addition to any event, particularly for hen party picnics, where you can enjoy some peaceful leisure time between your party adventures.
