3 Fun Things to do in Edinburgh this Winter
If you’re looking for something to warm up your winter, a trip to Edinburg is certainly worth considering. Edinburgh is a particularly beautiful city with its striking, historic architecture and the Edinburgh Castle towering over the stunning streets. It’s a truly magical place for a holiday at any time of year. During the festive season, however, the city comes to life with beautiful Christmas lights and all sorts of fun activities. In today’s blog, we’ll take a look at 3 fun things to do in Edinburgh this winter.
The Christmas Tree Maze
The Christmas Tree Maze, located in St Andrews Square, is one of the largest of its kind and is a great activity, especially for the little ones. Tickets to the maze cost just £5 per person, making it a relatively affordable activity too! The maze is made up of 450 Christmas trees, twinkling with Christmas lights. The maze will be open between November 24th and December 24th, giving you plenty of time during which to plan a visit.
Edinburgh Castle of Light
The magnificent Edinburgh Castle is a sight to behold on any occasion, but during November and December, the castle will be illuminated for the Castle of Light. While tickets are a little pricier than the Christmas Tree Maze, there are some special offers for family groups (£68.00 for 2 adults and 3 children, which is a £12 discount), and it’s certainly worth it at the end of the day. The whole area will be brought to life with interactive installations, immersive displays, music, and more. The Castle of Light is open on weekends only from the 22nd of November until the 4th of January.
Edinburgh Christmas Markets
The Edinburgh Christmas Markets are a must-visit attraction that perfectly captures the holiday spirit. These markets offer a festive wonderland filled with enchanting stalls, twinkling lights, and the smell of seasonal treats. Visitors can explore an array of handcrafted gifts, indulge in delicious food and mulled wine, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. There’s also a charming ice skating rink and festive fairground rides for all ages, adding to the magic. Running from mid-November to early January, the markets provide a cosy, festive experience that’s perfect for holiday lovers and families alike.
